Today I had a really funny experience on the tram on the way to school (which started at 12 =D).
Along somewhere along St Kilda Road or maybe Fed Square at the tram stop, this Jap lady got on and sat on the seat opposite me. She then placed her paper bag beside her, it was from some shop named 'Iwakura' (if I remember it correctly, doesn't matter anyway). I was like just staring at the bag, listening to my iPod at the same time.
Then she went waving her hand in front of me saying, 'Excuse me?' and I looked up. She looked really, really lost. Then the impaired English came out and I was like lost for awhile but I understood her.
She told me (in broken English) she wanted to go this place in St Kilda (actually she said she wanted to go to St Kilda without knowing St Kilda is an effin huge area) pointing on her printed map at the same time, which wasn't exactly very clear in sense of road signs. And then she told me her return trip is to somewhere on Toorak Road.
Yay to me for understand her or no one else would have, seriously. Unless if June was with me, she would most probably understand too.
The first question she asked after 'Excuse me?' was actually 'Are you Japanese?' and I was like 'No, I'm Chinese'.. didn't really wanna say 'Malaysian' or she'll think I'm Malay but who cares..
Then after I told her I knew where the place she wanted to go was, she told me to tell her when to get down.
But it sounded more like this : "Can I tell me where su-topu?"
Japanese people are amazing, really~
I'd have to say the Jap girl in my school has the best English so far, hahha, apart from Nobbi from Big Brother, who has better English than I do (O.o)
What is his original name? Must be like Nobu or something.. Nobbi is like..that cartoon character, wasn't there a cartoon character named 'Nobby'? XD
Anyway, midway the Jap lady kept apologising 'I'm sorry my English not very good' and I'm like feeling so helpless cos I don't know where she wants to go in detail. I'm sorry I don't know Japanese XP I mean, I do know, just not a lot.
In the end I told her I only know a bit of Japanese, then she was like so happy going 'Ahh, good, good!'
Aaand, I got her to where she wanted to go which was somewhere in the Esplanade, near Port Phillip Bay which is just one stop before my school. Heck, everyone who wants to visit St Kilda gets down there, lol. But my school stop's popular too, just not as crowded at Fed Square and Acland St (St Kilda).
When she got down (still looking lost) she turned around, smiled brightly and waved. I nodded and waved back.
Then after that I'm like thinking 'where's Momoko and David when you need them?' XD
Btw Momoko is the one and only existing Jap girl in my school and David's the Asian-looking Kiwi who speaks extremely fluent Japanese cos he spent half his childhood there *still jealous*.
Oh yeah, the Jap lady told me she wanted to go to this Esplanade place cos there's some Chinese/Jap event or something. Still it was in broken English but I didn't quite understand this one. She was so friendly, and kept apologising I wanted to tell her stop being so apologetic.. I feel bad if she keeps apologising.
Okay, am very sleepy now, can't recall the rest. Stupid rehearsals. We finished so late today and class starts at 11 tomorrow instead of 12. That sucks..
