Is it so hard for China to avoid being labelled as "copycats"?
China recently debuted a group of 9 females, average age of 18, called "Idol Girls".
I would say 80% copies of Girls Generation, or SNSD.
They fulfill criterias of being labelled as copies of SNSD:
1. There are nine of them
2. In their released photos, each of the girls copy the image of each SNSD girl
3. One of their released photos was them wearing the exact same sailor outfit as SNSD's "Genie"
4. They cover SNSD songs, as well as other female K-Pop group
5. Their style is just way too similar to SNSD
6. Their photo releases contains them posing similar poses to SNSD, or rather, an alternative pose to what SNSD did.
7. Their concept is like SNSD - cute, pretty, in heels, and are idols.
8. They are known to have to exact same talents: good in singing, dancing, MC-ing, modelling, etc.
What's up man??
My initial thought was "OMG COPYCATS!"
After some research, its more like "The entertainment company that debuts them is probably a huge fan of K-Pop and want to release a Chinese version that holds to same concept, and is attempting to make them on par with SNSD" or "Leaching off SNSD's fame and concept"
But thousands of people have already stated that they prefer SNSD over the acclaimed "copycat" known as "Idol Girls".
I have heard some of their original songs. Its not even similar to SNSD though. But of course, if they kind of copy in a way, they would get a hard blow in terms of being sued, etc. SM is way more powerful than whatever... entertainment company they are under.
But their songs aren't special. No special vocal skills, and I've seen their dancing.
They can't dance to save their lives! They're just there to look pretty and dance covers of Korean songs! I think I dance better than they do! They can't even pop!!
And no offence but these girls wearing the same sailor outfits as SNSD... is.... *puke*. I'm sorry, their legs aren't as gorgeous as SNSD no matter how much people hate SNSD. And they cut similar hairstyles like SNSD members. These girls are just sort-of-skinny-pretty-girls-picked-off-the-street.
Stop copying before you get legal action placed on you man..
And looks-wise, they are not pretty, I think honestly, only two out of nine of them are pretty. And one of them looks almost similar to Taeyeon its scary how she's so good in copying her style - cute with big eyes.
Well I got a list of their names: Carina, Genie (COPY), Kileko (What kind of name is that??), Donna, Elsa, Lucky (Can it get any worse?), Crystal, Sophia, and Fiona.
Another fact: they're all under-weight (or it could be lies because they all look a lot less-fit than SNSD). And scarily, they are all within the 160cm range of height.
I'm tired...I mean, from what I have observed over the one year i've been in China, the new generation of Chinese youngsters give themselves weird first names, for example in my school you find girls with weird names like "Army" and "Ray" - both of whom I sangat tak suka, kedua orang ini sangat "aimei" and think mereka very cantik, pandai, panas, terkenal. Pui la!
There is something very very wrong with the new G of orang Cina.
I don't even know why..
Is it so hard to think original?
